Did you think we'd forgotten about you? We had. But then we remembered, and we rounded the ol' band up for one more spin round this rodeo. This week, a catch up, before we explore the use of alcohol and the influence it has in society. Going in hard, going in dark. That's what she said. This episode's mistakes include:Successfully muxing two audio streams into one file for the first time ever, and then undermining it with wildlife noise.A freeform structure that evolves over time.A long time between drinks, podcast instalment-wise.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Pour yourself another, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send your questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Hello and welcome back to Deep Fought on its now fortnightly-ish schedule. Still plugging away towards the big 5-0. This week, through a once again amateurish Skype setup, we talk about human proximity and its correlation with social behaviour. Or at least, we brush up against it and then wander somewhere else. You know how it goes. This episode's mistakes include:Michael's beard and collar brushing his microphone constantly. Yep. Hate mail welcome.Never quite getting into the topic of human behaviour.Failed to disclose sponsorship by Kmart.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Spread your wings and fly, then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send questions to deepfought@gmail.com

Welcome back to our now fortnightly (?) international podcast. We're still fiddling with the technical side of things, so forgive us some teething issues, but we're surprisingly on topic this week. It's all about murder, and how people get away with it. Hello darkness, our old friend. This episode's mistakes include:Yeah, we're using the Skype call again instead of the combination of both of our individual mics. Michael has setup which sounded good on the call but his recording came through really quiet. It wasn't worth it. We'll get there, but for now there's a lot of background hiss. *shrug*Repeatedly promoting another podcast - the wonderful Serial - instead of our own.Apologising for mistakes we can't quite remember the specifics of.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Nobody can know about this, so like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send an email to deepfought@gmail.com.

We promised, and we delivered. Season two begins with a brand new cast in the same old location, or something. Anyway, Nick is in New Zealand, Michael is in Australia, and our audio system has had to deal with that kind of complexity for the first time. In between a catch up, we end up talking about the whole #jesuischarlie thing, as well as abortion and genetic screenings. So, same old, same old. This episode's mistakes include:The return of audio quality issues! We are actually putting out the Skype recording itself, rather than the blend of our two distinctly recorded audio files. Michael's end had an echo, and it was annoying, so rather than make you endure my voice twice as much as usual, we'll just put up the lower quality Skype version and make do.Being less focussed on a topic than usual. Sue us, we were catching up.Failing to promote our new Valentine's Day gift card service after the success of our yuletide paint pictures.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Embrace the challenge, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and email us questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Well, it happened. Nick got a job, Michael got arrested for shoplifting, and Deep Fought as it is must cease to be. Season 1 of it, at least. So if we're going out, we're going out with a bang - an extended, special edition finale to what has been an enormously enjoyable podcast to make and put out there. So while we hit pause for a little while - giving plenty of time for new and lapsed listeners alike to binge their way through the past forty episodes - internationally flavoured Season 2 episodes await in 2015. But until then, we must apologise, for this episode's mistakes include:Discovering a perfect podcast environment in the last episode after forty uncomfortable episodes preceding it.Avoiding discussing our own impending personal sadness by discussing the past week's global sadnesses instead.Focussing on the mistakes we made in each week's blog post rather than celebrating whatever we may have accomplished.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Swallow your feelings by liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, rating us on iTunes, and getting a personalised yuletide message from us by emailing deepfought@gmail.com.

It's the big 40, and we're talking about change. It's a surprisingly focussed but tangential episode, in that we know exactly what we want to talk about on topics that evolved rapidly. The question: what one thing would we change about the world? The answer may surprise you. I mean, it may not, but we don't know you well enough to judge yet. This episode's mistakes include:The longest intro we've ever done.Delayed gratification to last week's cliffhanger.Possible background music for added atmosphere.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Buckle up, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and send us questions and comments to deepfought@gmail.com.

It might be the beginning of the end for one of us. Who? Why? When? It's sweeps week even for podcasts, and these are the kind of big budget stories that draw the crowds. You'll have to tune in to find out. This episode's mistakes include:An undertone of impending nostalgia for these last great days.An sense of anxiety over unknown futures.Ending on a cliffhanger.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Wait and see, but in the meantime like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send an email to deepfought@gmail.com.

Gather round the pod table with close friends and their plus ones, for it's time for another episode. This week we launch headfirst into a discussion about living one life or ten lives, and then launch headlast away from that when it's clear it's not working. Luckily, we land in some new stuff like outback survival and dietary choices. This episode's mistakes include:A rough start in which we struggle uphill at a topic before bailing. Don't be afraid to run away from your problems, kids.Bear Grylls reference.Schizophrenic focus, aka "ping-ponging".Egregious factual inaccuracies.Fill up, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and email us at deepfought@gmail.com.

It's a podcast for the ages, because we're talking about myths and the way stories become legends. With a silent audience of three, and a surprising amount of energy, we explore what makes for a compelling fable and whether any events today will last in the same way. This episode's mistakes include:Artificially trying to pump up the energy levels, leading only to volume spikes.Occasional titters from onlookers that completely destroyed the serious atmosphere.Missed opportunity to convert listeners to Germanic paganism.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Tell your children of this day, and like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

This is a meaty one. We explore whether there are aspects of culture and life that are immutable. What parts of the human experience are permanent, and which parts could we stand to leave behind? Michael's brother Ben returns again to join us in this wide-ranging but surprisingly focussed discussion. This episode's mistakes include:Killing a puppy live on air.Leaving interesting topics behind without fulling exploring them. Not dressing the part.Egregious factual inaccuracies. This never changes, so like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and email us questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Please put phones on silent in preparation for a loose chat that touches on some recent movies and their accompanying scores. It's of mild interest to both you and us, so we have that in common. Greetings, Earthlings. This week we talk about the growing interconnectedness of our species and the spread of globalisation across the... globe. It actually gets kind of good, much to our communal surprise. This episode's mistakes include:Cutting out a good five plus minutes of Helen Hunt chat for time. AND IT WAS ALL GOLD.Finding our way into an interesting topic and having to leave many interesting areas untouched.Allowing Michael some say over the episode title.Egregious factual inaccuracies. All you need is love, and to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send question suggestions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Ooohhh, what a haunting episode! It's almost All Hallows' Eve, so we got into costume for our thirty-third consecutive Great Episode. We eventually talk about some phobias and little things that frighten us. This episode's mistakes include:Recording at Nick's house for the first time ever, forever ruining our streak.Animal guests did not equally contribute to the discussion at hand.Long-winded and scatterbrained introduction before finally getting on topic.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Get over it, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and email questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

You've been waiting patiently. Too patiently, I think. Almost as if to suggest you weren't interested. Well bugger it, I wanted to. I'm a goddamn host, I can do what I want. Ahem. So, we talk over some of the implications of the new legislation on the table and the role and duty the government has in national security. This episode's mistakes include:Occasional audio hiccups due to new operating system and very close microphone talking.Erratic and circuitous debate of topics without much deep diving into any one subject.Blog post accidentally included ASIO filter trigger word; your visit to this page has been recorded. Welcome back to a quiet episode, with both Michael and Nick recovering from the weekend's activities. As a result, we take a somewhat circuitous route to the media that influenced us as children. It's a nostalgic, easy episode that we phoned in for you. You're welcome. This episode's mistakes include:Low energy levels from both hosts for the start, before picking up again as the topic warmed up.Forgetting the name of classic '90s childrens' juggling toy 'Diabolo'.Waves of nostalgia and associated peaking audio levels.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Let it happen, then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, email us at deepfought@gmail.com and rate us on iTunes.

And you thought we weren't gonna podcast this week. Well you're right, because it's basically next week already. Whose fault is that? We'll leave that to you to decide. This week, we talked about life out there in the deep reaches of space. Have we, mankind, ever encountered extra-terrestrial life? Has Michael? You might be surprised. This episode's mistakes include:Incredible delay on the recording and posting of this week's episode.Sober participants with a bit of a long run up to the topic.Surface-level engagement with the potential discussion points (but what's new?).Egregious factual inaccuracies. The truth is out there, on Facebook, Twitter, iTunes and at deepfought@gmail.com.

Ladies and gentlemen, is what we talk about this week. Sorry for that misleading comma. Yes, with Nick sick and Eleanor sitting in, we sit down to talk about our perceived pros and cons of the opposite gender. It's a surprisingly on topic discussion, and it also stretches a bit longer than average (but not as ridiculously so as last week). I think you'll find it much more interesting though. Anyway, this episode's mistakes include:Addressing delicate gender topics with a 2:1 male to female ratio on the podcast.A disgusting nasal tone from Nick as a result of his death flu.An inherently surface-level discussion of complex issues.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Be yourself, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, or email us at deepfought@gmail.com.

You didn't ask for it, but you got it! A megasode of roughly an hour, talking solely about each other. It's Harsh Truths Part Two! Special guest Ben returns to ask the question: how do you think you are perceived by others, and how are you really? There is plenty of discussion of common human behaviour, or at least that's what we told ourselves before resuming the narcissism again. This episode's mistakes include:The familiar sting of poorly balanced three-way audio. The guest's curse strikes again!Pushing an hour for the first time in twenty-eight episodes, and pushing audience patience at the same time.Narcissism, but we've always been the best at that of anyone we know.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Quit halfway, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and email us at deepfought@gmail.com.

Here we are, barely five days after our last episode, with another great instalment! This week - bearing in mind of course that it's within the same week as our last episode, but I digress - this week we are talking whether people should be resuscitated and about euthanasia. So, another light topic then. This episode's mistakes include:A unique beginning to the episode resulting in aural uncertainty.Energy deflation from leading to a slump two-thirds through. An oddly political tangent at the end about one of the day's news stories.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Soldier on, and like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and email us questions at deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 26 is finally here, despite it not yet being the six month anniversary of our first recording. Work that out. (No seriously, can you work that out for us?) We get enjoyably fatalistic and dark this week, which if you're a regular listener of the show you must have a liking for, or at the very least a tolerance of by now. This episode's mistakes include:Being a few days late, despite the fact we gave you notice so it's hardly a mistake now is it?Complicated discussion of paradoxes and fate that confused both of us, even though we were the ones talking.Outlining a really good movie idea in considerable detail for anyone to steal.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Make it happen, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send questions to deepfought@gmail.com.
