Where should you turn when faced with a big, philosophical question? The internet, of course. Half philosophy, one third ”jokes”, one twelfth science, one twelfth politics, and 100% carefully calculated fractions. That’s the Deep Fought Promise!

Episode 53: Broadened Mind
Monday Nov 09, 2015
Monday Nov 09, 2015
Sorry, we didn't see you there. We're still alive, though you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise. Things, as they say, have been afoot. Apologies. This episode is one that doesn't really cover any topics so much as enable both of us to get back in touch with each other after roughly (exactly) nine weeks. If you're a neglected friend or family member that has also been wondering what we've been up to, you're in luck. This episode's mistakes include:Occasional long pauses where Skype lagged (but surprisingly good audio otherwise).Repetition of a theme. No mention of pachinko, vending machines, or other Japanese cliches.Egregious factual inaccuracies. If for some reason you still want more of this, you can like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send your themes and questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 52: Learn To Cook
Wednesday Sep 02, 2015
Wednesday Sep 02, 2015
Look at that! Barely two weeks and we're back with another episode, and like most rushed things, it could have used a little more time in the oven. What's that? Kitchen metaphor? Great segue! Is it? Not really, because we're talking about education - what our parents taught us, what we wished we knew, and what schools should be doing. This episode's mistakes include:Low audio from Michael's end, with a slight echo on Michael's end, and tinny mic (on Michael's end).Energy slumps as we were both knackered. Podcasting is hard, guys. Not enough cooking.Egregious factual inaccuraciesPass this on to your children: they can like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 51: That Was Your Toaster
Monday Aug 17, 2015
Monday Aug 17, 2015
'Allo 'allo, what do we have here? It's a podcast, in case you forgot during our extended absence from the internet. But that was only due to life taking over, and given life is all any of us have, that had to take precedence. Our unreserved apologies. This, episode 51, hopefully signposts a new momentum and rhythm that will see us treading strongly towards our centenary. Plus, new website and new logo colours, but the same heartfelt contemplation. This week, we're talking stress and time, and just generally check back in on each others' lives. Of course, this episode's mistakes include:Audio echo, because of course there is.Poor photoshopping skills on the logo visible when zoomed in.FaceTime used instead of Skype, despite our corporate sponsorship.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Remember this moment by liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, rating us on iTunes, and sending your questions to deepfought@gmail.com

Episode 50: Where Am I?
Tuesday Jun 30, 2015
Tuesday Jun 30, 2015
It's here. It's happened. Episode 50. It's strange to look back at our first episode, fifteen or so months ago, and contemplate all the hours it took to get to this. Michael and I send our love and regards to those of you listening - be it still listening, or recently on board - and taking part in what for us has often been more introspective than outwardly concerned. This episode ranges in discussion from robots, to desert island essentials, and then on to happiness, life goals, death, and love. So, business as usual then. And as always, this episode's mistakes include:The now traditional goddamn annoying audio glitches, namely a persistent echo on Michael's end that made us again resort to the lower quality Skype recording track. Not doing a director's commentary over the Twenniversary director's commentary over the first episode. No impression of the week, despite repeated promises.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Seriously, genuinely, thank you. Episode 49: Mistaken Identity
Tuesday Jun 09, 2015
Tuesday Jun 09, 2015
Hello one, hello all, and welcome to another episode of the digital podcast Deep Fought. Today we're talking all about identity and perception, and how you can really tell who you are through how others see you. We hope you like it. But if you don't, well, please put your concerns and complaints to us in writing, and we'll address them in due course. This episode's mistakes include:That same Ableton audio bug causes Michael to lose his recording a few minutes in, again. An occasional desyncing of the audio tracks due to changes in the space-time continuum. (Skype connection lag.)Deviations into self-absorption, though undercut by brutality.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Remain true to yourself, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send your question suggestions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 48: Country Bumpkins
Wednesday May 27, 2015
Wednesday May 27, 2015
Good evening all, and thank you for casting your eyes across these fine fields of text. We have prepared another audio experience for you, with all the words and thoughts you have longed for strung together in a row. It is a Podcast. This week we're talking about nationhood, the idea of associating with one geographic area, and what it would take to unify the world beneath one government. It ain't bad. This episode's mistakes include:Potential lags and syncing issues due to Skype quality dropping in and out, and hence independent audio tracks being impossible to align. Not giving fan favourite segment 'Science News' its deserved attention.Alienating our extensive Singaporean audience.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Salute the flag, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send your questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 47: Fork Nostradamus
Friday May 08, 2015
Friday May 08, 2015
We're alive! This time out we're drinking and talking about our decisions. It might be the alcohol, but I think it ain't bad. I've kind of run out of stuff to say here. I hope you've been well? You'd let me know if you weren't, yeah? Cool. Cool cool. This episode's mistakes include:Posting the ep with an abstract title due to iTunes podcast guidelinesVariable audio quality as we switch between audio recordings midway. Some repetition of content, but in interesting ways.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Do what you were always going to, and like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and email us at deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 46: In Two Minds About This
Friday Apr 10, 2015
Friday Apr 10, 2015
Happy anniversary, honeys. Yes, one year ago on April 10th, 2014, we launched Deep Fought with four episodes. Technically we'd recorded and uploaded some in March, but once we'd finally hit an acceptable sound quality (if not content quality) we felt ready to tell people about it on Facebook. It's been a weird and fun ride for us, so thanks to anyone that listens or listened in the past and then moved on with their lives. This episode's mistakes include:Starting with the Skype call because Michael hadn't hit record, and then ending with the Skype call because Michael's audio file became five minutes of unnerving static tone.Fumbling our way into and out of a topic, again.Biting the hand that feeds us, so to speak.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Cheers to you, for liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, rating us on iTunes, emailing us at deepfought@gmail.com, and being the consummate podcast audience professionals that you are.

Episode 45: Absinthe Makes The Heart Grow Fonder
Wednesday Mar 25, 2015
Wednesday Mar 25, 2015
Did you think we'd forgotten about you? We had. But then we remembered, and we rounded the ol' band up for one more spin round this rodeo. This week, a catch up, before we explore the use of alcohol and the influence it has in society. Going in hard, going in dark. That's what she said. This episode's mistakes include:Successfully muxing two audio streams into one file for the first time ever, and then undermining it with wildlife noise.A freeform structure that evolves over time.A long time between drinks, podcast instalment-wise.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Pour yourself another, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send your questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 44: Give Me Space
Sunday Feb 22, 2015
Sunday Feb 22, 2015
Hello and welcome back to Deep Fought on its now fortnightly-ish schedule. Still plugging away towards the big 5-0. This week, through a once again amateurish Skype setup, we talk about human proximity and its correlation with social behaviour. Or at least, we brush up against it and then wander somewhere else. You know how it goes. This episode's mistakes include:Michael's beard and collar brushing his microphone constantly. Yep. Hate mail welcome.Never quite getting into the topic of human behaviour.Failed to disclose sponsorship by Kmart.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Spread your wings and fly, then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send questions to deepfought@gmail.com

Episode 43: How To Get Away With Murder
Sunday Feb 01, 2015
Sunday Feb 01, 2015
Welcome back to our now fortnightly (?) international podcast. We're still fiddling with the technical side of things, so forgive us some teething issues, but we're surprisingly on topic this week. It's all about murder, and how people get away with it. Hello darkness, our old friend. This episode's mistakes include:Yeah, we're using the Skype call again instead of the combination of both of our individual mics. Michael has setup which sounded good on the call but his recording came through really quiet. It wasn't worth it. We'll get there, but for now there's a lot of background hiss. *shrug*Repeatedly promoting another podcast - the wonderful Serial - instead of our own.Apologising for mistakes we can't quite remember the specifics of.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Nobody can know about this, so like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send an email to deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 42: New Beginnings
Sunday Jan 18, 2015
Sunday Jan 18, 2015
We promised, and we delivered. Season two begins with a brand new cast in the same old location, or something. Anyway, Nick is in New Zealand, Michael is in Australia, and our audio system has had to deal with that kind of complexity for the first time. In between a catch up, we end up talking about the whole #jesuischarlie thing, as well as abortion and genetic screenings. So, same old, same old. This episode's mistakes include:The return of audio quality issues! We are actually putting out the Skype recording itself, rather than the blend of our two distinctly recorded audio files. Michael's end had an echo, and it was annoying, so rather than make you endure my voice twice as much as usual, we'll just put up the lower quality Skype version and make do.Being less focussed on a topic than usual. Sue us, we were catching up.Failing to promote our new Valentine's Day gift card service after the success of our yuletide paint pictures.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Embrace the challenge, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and email us questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 41: It Has To End Sometime
Monday Dec 22, 2014
Monday Dec 22, 2014
Well, it happened. Nick got a job, Michael got arrested for shoplifting, and Deep Fought as it is must cease to be. Season 1 of it, at least. So if we're going out, we're going out with a bang - an extended, special edition finale to what has been an enormously enjoyable podcast to make and put out there. So while we hit pause for a little while - giving plenty of time for new and lapsed listeners alike to binge their way through the past forty episodes - internationally flavoured Season 2 episodes await in 2015. But until then, we must apologise, for this episode's mistakes include:Discovering a perfect podcast environment in the last episode after forty uncomfortable episodes preceding it.Avoiding discussing our own impending personal sadness by discussing the past week's global sadnesses instead.Focussing on the mistakes we made in each week's blog post rather than celebrating whatever we may have accomplished.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Swallow your feelings by liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, rating us on iTunes, and getting a personalised yuletide message from us by emailing deepfought@gmail.com.

Monday Dec 15, 2014
Episode 40: Big Changes
Monday Dec 15, 2014
Monday Dec 15, 2014
It's the big 40, and we're talking about change. It's a surprisingly focussed but tangential episode, in that we know exactly what we want to talk about on topics that evolved rapidly. The question: what one thing would we change about the world? The answer may surprise you. I mean, it may not, but we don't know you well enough to judge yet. This episode's mistakes include:The longest intro we've ever done.Delayed gratification to last week's cliffhanger.Possible background music for added atmosphere.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Buckle up, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and send us questions and comments to deepfought@gmail.com.

Sunday Dec 07, 2014
Episode 39: Mental
Sunday Dec 07, 2014
Sunday Dec 07, 2014
It might be the beginning of the end for one of us. Who? Why? When? It's sweeps week even for podcasts, and these are the kind of big budget stories that draw the crowds. You'll have to tune in to find out. This episode's mistakes include:An undertone of impending nostalgia for these last great days.An sense of anxiety over unknown futures.Ending on a cliffhanger.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Wait and see, but in the meantime like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send an email to deepfought@gmail.com.

Monday Dec 01, 2014
Episode 38: Melting Pot
Monday Dec 01, 2014
Monday Dec 01, 2014
Gather round the pod table with close friends and their plus ones, for it's time for another episode. This week we launch headfirst into a discussion about living one life or ten lives, and then launch headlast away from that when it's clear it's not working. Luckily, we land in some new stuff like outback survival and dietary choices. This episode's mistakes include:A rough start in which we struggle uphill at a topic before bailing. Don't be afraid to run away from your problems, kids.Bear Grylls reference.Schizophrenic focus, aka "ping-ponging".Egregious factual inaccuracies.Fill up, and then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and email us at deepfought@gmail.com.

Monday Nov 24, 2014
Episode 37: Legendary
Monday Nov 24, 2014
Monday Nov 24, 2014
It's a podcast for the ages, because we're talking about myths and the way stories become legends. With a silent audience of three, and a surprising amount of energy, we explore what makes for a compelling fable and whether any events today will last in the same way. This episode's mistakes include:Artificially trying to pump up the energy levels, leading only to volume spikes.Occasional titters from onlookers that completely destroyed the serious atmosphere.Missed opportunity to convert listeners to Germanic paganism.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Tell your children of this day, and like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Monday Nov 17, 2014
Episode 36: Some Things Never Change
Monday Nov 17, 2014
Monday Nov 17, 2014
This is a meaty one. We explore whether there are aspects of culture and life that are immutable. What parts of the human experience are permanent, and which parts could we stand to leave behind? Michael's brother Ben returns again to join us in this wide-ranging but surprisingly focussed discussion. This episode's mistakes include:Killing a puppy live on air.Leaving interesting topics behind without fulling exploring them. Not dressing the part.Egregious factual inaccuracies. This never changes, so like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and email us questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Sunday Nov 09, 2014
Episode 35: At The Movies
Sunday Nov 09, 2014
Sunday Nov 09, 2014
Please put phones on silent in preparation for a loose chat that touches on some recent movies and their accompanying scores. It's of mild interest to both you and us, so we have that in common. This episode's mistakes include:Low energy and no real question leading to slow rambling.Spending a lot of time waiting on YouTube to buffer. Not editing out the time waiting on YouTube to buffer.Egregious factual inaccuracies.Rouse yourself, then like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes and send questions to deepfought@gmail.com.

Episode 34: The Human Race (Feat. Helen Hunt)
Monday Nov 03, 2014
Monday Nov 03, 2014
Greetings, Earthlings. This week we talk about the growing interconnectedness of our species and the spread of globalisation across the... globe. It actually gets kind of good, much to our communal surprise. This episode's mistakes include:Cutting out a good five plus minutes of Helen Hunt chat for time. AND IT WAS ALL GOLD.Finding our way into an interesting topic and having to leave many interesting areas untouched.Allowing Michael some say over the episode title.Egregious factual inaccuracies. All you need is love, and to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, rate us on iTunes, and send question suggestions to deepfought@gmail.com.
